LECTURE
Week 4 | Audio Editing Exercise
Steps for Dubbing a Silent Clip in Adobe Premiere Pro
Watch the Video:
Import and Place on Timeline:Begin by importing the video file into Adobe Premiere Pro. Place it on the timeline to view it.
Understand Content and Rhythm:Carefully watch the video to understand its content and rhythm. This will help lay the foundation for subsequent audio synchronization.
Record Scenes:
Detail Start and End Times:As you watch the video, note down the start and end times of each scene in a spreadsheet. This detailed recording helps in positioning each scene precisely for adding the right sound effects.
List the Sound Effects:
Identify Necessary Sounds:List the required sound effects for each scene. For instance, if there is a walking scene, note the need for footstep sounds. If a door opens, list the door opening sound.
Ensure Completeness:Make sure all sound effects needed for each scene are listed to avoid missing any during audio synchronization.
Synchronize Audio:
Import Sound Effects:After completing the spreadsheet, import the corresponding sound effects into Adobe Premiere Pro.
Sync with Video:Synchronize the sound effects with the video by adjusting their positions and lengths to match the action and imagery perfectly.
Refine Through Playback:Ensure accurate synchronization by repeatedly playing back the video and making necessary adjustments.
By following these steps, you can effectively dub a silent clip, ensuring that the added dialogue and sound effects align seamlessly with the visual content.
EXERCISE
Week 4 | Project 1/Exercise 1: Audio Editing Exercise
We had to do Video Dubbing based on a movie called 'Everything, Everywhere All At Once'. We were also instructedto watch this movie before week 3
The video clip is muted so we were instructed to record our own voice on our phone and search for some sound effects online and then we edit it all together in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Recorded Voices
After downloading the video and searching for all the sound effects
We will then sound edit the audio track to match the film clip. In this exercise, we are tasked with synchronizing the provided audio with the video using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Mission requirements - 10 audio tracks:
- Dialogue: 4 audio tracks (one for each character)
- Hard sound effects: 3 tracks
- Ambient sounds: 3 tracks
I dub and find the audio first, then put them on the video and edit them.

| My Voice Recorded In My Phone (27/06/2024) |
I chose a movie line: Behind every successful man there's a lot of unsuccessful years.
After that, I debug the effect values in the AU software, such as reverberation, amplitude, tone change, etc., in order to achieve the sound effect I want.
