Week 3 |Three Act Structure Exercise

We will analyze two short films based on a three-act structure by filling out the worksheet provided by Mr. Martin.

1. Thai short film - Lalin :

1. What are the first, second and third acts?

Describe each behavior in just one paragraph.In Act One, the protagonist introduces herself and showcases her online relationship with a netizen named Nuts. Specifically in Plot One, Nuts suddenly proposes a face-to-face meeting, triggering inner turmoil and unease within the protagonist.
Act Two delves into Nuts' situation in Japan and includes some flashback scenes. Meanwhile, in Plot Two, the protagonist explores Nuts' confession folder, adding complexity and drama to their relationship dynamics.
The third act presents the resolution where the anticipated real-life encounter between the two ultimately does not materialize, leaving viewers with varying degrees of introspection and emotional resonance.

REFLECTIONS
The course profoundly impacted my understanding of the importance of sound in recordings. Background music, dialogues, and sound effects significantly shape the audience's emotions and experience. Using various sounds, we can evoke different moods. Learning to use different software and tools for sound effects was enjoyable, and each step, from recording to editing, required careful attention to achieve the best results. The course also emphasized selecting and using background music that complements the video without distracting from the main content.

We acquired filming skills such as camera movement, composition, and lighting, which helped improve the professionalism of my photos. Editing is crucial in video production, and we learned to use software to edit videos, add special effects, and create transitions, piecing everything together into a cohesive whole. Storytelling was also highlighted, as a great video needs an engaging narrative. Learning to write scripts and break them down improved my storytelling abilities.

Practical assignments showed me that continuous practice is essential for mastering the skills taught. Teamwork was crucial, as some projects required collaboration with classmates, teaching me effective communication and cooperation. Video production and sound processing are rapidly evolving fields, requiring ongoing learning and enthusiasm for new knowledge.

Overall, the course taught me practical skills and enhanced my creativity and interest in video production. I am grateful for the instructor's guidance and my peers' support, which allowed me to gain significantly from this learning process.
